Jasmin’s Journey from School Anxiety to Graduation Triumph

Her name is Jasmin Cabrales, and she’s graduating in the class of 2026. She shares her story of leaving school for multiple years and how she found her way back.   

She spent her entire life in the place where she was born, the small town of Wilcox, Arizona. She did well in school until things took a turn for the worse in middle school. She began to get bullied by the kids at school. That’s when she lost motivation for school. This painful time led her to stop attending school for years.   

Her relationship with school was off until around the time she was supposed to start eleventh grade. Her academics had suffered enough, and she knew it was time to go back. Remembering the painful pangs that came with the thought of school, she decided she wanted to go back, but this time online.

Reaching graduation is a milestone she never thought she’d reach. On graduation day, she shared that “Today is the day; one of my dreams comes true. I’ve never thought I would actually be here waiting to graduate, and now I’m here.”    

With a high school diploma in hand, she’s excited about going to college and studying criminal justice. She’s put in the work and time into high school, and she’s ready for the next phase of life. This moment holds special significance for her since no one else in her family has gone to college. She‘ll be the first to reach this milestone.
